UAV Team Meets With Their Community Partner, Merced County Cooperative Extension

February 4, 2014

On February 4, 2014 the UAV Team members meet with their community partner Larry Burrow in hopes of identifying a central problem their community faces that UAV’s could help solve.

Larry Burrow is an Agricultural Field Technician and will help guide the UAV Engineering Service Learning team in the upcoming tasks they have ahead of them.

Markell Deruso, a senior Environmental Engineer on the UAV team states, "After meeting with Larry Burrow and his team at the Merced County Cooperative Extension, I learned a great deal on the plethora of benefits autonomous systems could have on farming applications. Whether it is used for aerial applications (i.e. crop dusting) or georectifying images to better understand water stress, drones are an essential tool that could revolutionize how farmers do business by allowing farming to be done more efficiently and more cost effectively."
