International Agricultural Expo in Tulare, CA

February 17, 2015

On Thursday, February 12, some of the UAV team members attended the 48th annual International Agricultural Expo in Tulare, CA. Chris Reps, Austin Stratton, Armand Kirshman, and Ulises Vargas attended the event in order to gain insight into the emergence of UAVs in the agricultural industry. They had an opportunity to speak to farmers and engineers about ways that UAVs can be used.

HoneyComb Corporation specializes in agricultural UAVs and data processing. Their AgDrone system includes a fully autonomous UAV coupled with imaging and data processing programs. They chose a fixed-wing design since it enables a longer flight time as a result of its light construction. The UAV is covered in Kevlar in order to make it more reliable. The UAV utilizes a regular and infrared camera to analyze the land and can cover 800 acres in an hour.

All Drone Solutions also specializes in UAVs for agricultural use. They have 2 UAV models, a fixed wing and a multi-rotor. The fixed wing can cover up to 400 acres while the multi-rotor can cover up to 60 acres. Flights can be done from a computer or mobile device with processes images available in real time. The UAVs can be leased or rented depending on the customer's needs. The customer can choose from a range of cameras.
