Flight Test 11/09/16

December 13, 2016

On Wednesday Nov. 9th, Victoria and Arnold conducted a flight mission at the Vernal Pool Reserve.  Arnold manned the ground control station while Victoria was the remote pilot. The goal of this mission was to collect images.  The imaging team will use the images to test if their code is functioning properly and can correctly stitch the images together into a larger image. Arnold and Victoria could conduct multiple runs and collect images but had issues operating the quadcopter. On all the flights conducted the failsafe was activated when the quadcopter flew too far away from the ground control station and lost its connection with the transmitter. This caused the quadcopter to return home before it could have completed its planned route. It is suspected that the transmitter has a flaw and the platform team will investigate it in the upcoming weeks.
