The keynote talk, titled “Drones as Co-Ecologists for Water, Dust, Land to Peat Bogs” was given by Professor YangQuan Chen, the MESA LAB Director. He firstly presented recent lab updates since the last R&R lab symposium and introduced new lab members plus most recent paper deadlines. Chen then presented MESA Lab scientific data drone programs for missions related to water, land, soil, dust, and even Siberia peat bogs.

After, and inspirational speech given by Jure Zaninovich about his personal experience with UAV’s inspired students. According to Karen Turcios, a 2nd year mechanical engineering student “[He inspired us] to be really innovated and go for things. Sometimes not all what you are going to obtain in life is going to come to you but you have to go and pursue what you want in life. We cannot be discouraged by the obstacles ahead of us but rather grow as a person and pick a career that you will truly love.”

The evening was wrapped up with an endless amount of tasty ribs, with the company of many people from the community.
