Official NDVI Output

November 26, 2018

At last, the Imaging team was able to create a beautiful NDVI output image that shows all the different percentages of the NDVI using a gradient. With this new gradient the NDVI image shows an actual accurate representation of NDVI data. For example, in the previous NDVI algorithm the output image just told the analyzer, according to Jeffrey NG, "...this is ground and this is a plant." So, therefore our first NDVI outputs were just useless in helping the analyzer identifying a possible water stress disease.

With the use of this new NDVI output image not only does it look prettier, but it gives the analyzer a better understanding of what exactly is going on within a vineyard. For example, now that the image has more colors, analyzer's are able to tell the difference in NDVI intensities to make an accurate analysis on what may be occuring in a particular area of the vineyard.

The imaging team hopes to add more colors to the gradient in order to improve the accuracy in NDVI intensities. In the end, the imaging team has successfully finalized a working algorithm that produces a readable NDVI output ready for analysis.
