OpenCV Image Stitching Team

April 17, 2020

In the implementation of the software that will be used in the drone, the image-stitching team, consisting of Luna Lynn, Noorulain Irshad, and Brian Matamet began to work towards a solution that will allow us to integrate an image-stitching process onto our final design. This process will convert the number of photos taken by the drone into a single photo detailing an entire walnut orchard field. The team first took into consideration the possibility of integrating Microsoft ICE onto the user interface. The problem with Microsoft ICE was that there was no API available online for the team to be able to use it in our interface. After careful consideration, the team decided that using the OpenCV library will be easier to use for the end-user and create a much more stable design overall. The team will continue to explore ways to stitch images using OpenCV and bring on a complete image-stitching software that will become integrated with the final user interface and help simplify data analysis.
