U.A.S. @ 2020 World Ag. Expo

February 25, 2020

The Unmanned Aerial Systems team went to the Ag Expo on February 12, 2020. The Ag Expo is a conference that occurs every year at 4500 South Laspina Street Tulare, California. This year was the 53rd edition of the Expo, it’s the largest annual outdoor agricultural exposition. People across the country and around the world go to see the new advances in technology that’s helping shape today’s agricultural industry. There are more than 1,500 exhibitors displaying the latest in farm equipment, communications and technology on 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space. The expo also displays Free seminars focusing on a variety of topics important to dairy producers, farmers, ranchers and agribusiness professionals.

While at the AG Expo, the team saw various presenters display either products or their services, one of them being a company called Ceres. This company performs service similar to the UAS development plan but with more researched and developed features. This company focuses on the development of aerial crop detection with aircrafts and determines these four things: Water stress levels, Chlorophyll levels, thermal imaging, and center pivot analytics. The benefits displayed within their business plan were exhibited through their work and business success. The company seemed well developed and sustained enough to have a great deal of influence with farmers.

Seeing the success and profit margins of the well developed company CERES showed the team new inspiration and work ethic for success. Considering our team project shared various similarities it created a sense of security and professionalism within the team that had not been discovered before. After talking to the representatives from this company we know that what we aim to do is possible, it simply requires us meeting our deadlines and remaining focus to succeed.  The team had the opportunity to visit the Expo to learn and see any value information that can correlate to the project we are working on. About 7 members of the team attended the Expo, we took home value information and a great experience in AgTech.
